I understand, this is what my dorm room needed when I was at univ. Got the carpet wet (hazing) and it stunk to high heaven.
A good cleaning relies on good prep work, just like many other jobs. If you don’t prep the walls before paint, or a header sfc before remounting a head, you just know you’ll be redoing the work very soon.
Find a good cleaner in your area and get all the guys in your barracks together on it. You’ll enjoy your room better.
:O Thats what the … :O Thats what the carpets in the barracks need :3 Instead I had to use a crappy commercial strength hoover steamvac to clean the carpet. Pre-vacuum makes since and will save one a lot of heartache, especially if the carpet is shaggy. The first time I steamvac my barracks room carpet I didnt vacuum. Ended up clogging the thing with dust and constantly had to take it apart to clean its filter. This room I have now I changed the bucket about a dozen times before I finished.

Yeah, … @Vanillamonk
Yeah, lots of guys think I’m wasting my time. Join the crowd.
Fortunately my clients don’t think I’m wasting mine or their time. They appreciate the effort.
Didn’t know the IICRC taught to vac with the TM, must be new.
Rake is manual, Sebo is mechanical. What’s the diff? Sebo does a great job on the stair noses.
Soaked? Hardly. Lot of vacuum backing up my procedure.
This guy wastes … This guy wastes time by vacuuming ahead of time, uses way too much water and only does 1 dry pass carpet is gonna soaked. Vacuum while your cleaning, use a rake to agitate iicrc will tell ya this.
don’t know why … don’t know why everyone feels the need to bust this guys balls. big picture – this guy provides a higher end cleaning for $5 per stair. if you don’t like his methods, guess what!! you don’t have to work with him. the fact is he isn’t some crappy hack ruining carpets everywhere he goes. nothing I’ve read on here so far is worth arguing about. one thing’s for sure. this man is patient enough to do that job the way he feels it ought to be done. can’t fault him for that.
@hcciam how would … @hcciam how would you know? do you take the carpets out of your customers house and have every fiber analyized under an electron microscope to see if any molecular structure of soil is remaining or are you just going by what you were taught by “the industry”?
@bench595 its the … @bench595 its the DRY particulates, not the soil stuck to the fibres. Extracting is meant for that soil. I wouldn’t need to explain that to a knowledgable cleaner.
I remembered how I know it doesn’t remove the dry particulate. On a commercial olefin berber I used an RX20 and a wand. The wand left streaks, the RX20 left it even. I had prevac’d as much as I could but I knew there was a ton of sand in it. The soil still wicked up after the RX 20 just more even. Dry soil is best removed dry.
@hcciam and how do … @hcciam and how do you know the soil is removed. if the soil is removed, then whats the point of extracting if there is nothing to extract?
@bench595 well, you … @bench595 well, you may be right. You may be wrong. All I know is that by removing the soil FIRST,I know its gone and I don’t have to worry about it.
If I used a rotary and it looked clean, I’m guessing.
@hcciam “the … @hcciam “the swirling of the RX20, and Rotavav, and the newer versions, simply compensate so that soil isn’t seen”!!!!!!! WHAT!?!?!?!? lol…..yep, you are right, the soil isnt seen because it isnt there…..duh!
Great vacuum done … Great vacuum done right, that’s how it should be. I will recommend any of my clients who move to the BC area to use you for their carpet cleaning needs!
I’ve used every … I’ve used every machine and own them all. obviously you haven’t. I never skip vacuuming ever because it is very important but there is a point of over kill with every method. i think that my comments were selfish in that I ‘ve seen some really hammered carpets that maybe vacuuming was not the play. hi tempurature along with agitaion then rotary extraction with hi level of mercury was the only way to have it come clean . and it does remove dirt better than a vacuum any day of the week. thats all

No, this is restorative cleaning, as is the other video. A lot of guys miss that.
I have an RX20 I used for a few years but once I started vacuuming its been in storage, if you know anyone who wants one… The rotary tools were designed to eliminate the issues arising from not removing enough of the dry soil and cleaning with a wand, ie streaking, etc. The swirling of the RX20, and Rotovav, and the newer versions, simply compensate so that soil isn’t seen.
What type of vacuum …
What type of vacuum do you recommend, i use a Henry, but its crap.
